Beach experience North Sea coast
The North Sea holiday region offers its holidaymakers one of the most interesting natural landscapes in Europe with kilometres of sandy beaches, picturesque villages and a large number of charming guesthouses on the North Sea. The sea is part of the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered on three sides by land. On the North Sea coast there are tides, also known as ebb and flow. Low tide refers to the state when the water retreats and high tide refers to the state when the water comes back towards the coast. Depending on the region, the water falls and rises by about two to four metres. The landscape along the North Sea coast is dominated by the Wadden Sea. Between the islands and the mainland it covers an area of 500,000 hectares. A walk through the tidal flats is only possible at low tide, when a large section of beach is uncovered at low tide. As a holidaymaker you have the possibility to take part in a mudflat hike with a guide, enjoy the sea air and have your feet massaged in the mudflats. Surfing and beach fun
Although the North Sea climate is often stormy, the region is still suitable for families and active holidaymakers. Water sports enthusiasts often benefit from the wind and the sun shines often. The beaches of the North Sea are extensive and offer especially children a lot of space to play ball or other activities on the beach. From your guesthouse at the North Sea you can always go straight to the sea. Hikers and cyclists can enjoy a wonderful nature in the dunes. These sand mountains at the North Sea are over 35 meters high and offer its visitors a green landscape, ideal for walking. What most people do not know is that the dunes move and shift over time. The North Frisian Islands are located off the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and are a popular holiday destination, especially in summer. There are seven East Frisian Islands in total. The smallest of the seven islands is Baltrum, which can be circumnavigated during an extended walk. Other islands include Norderney, Spiekeroog, Wangerooge, Langeoog, Borkum and Juist.

The island of Sylt enjoys great popularity, as Sylt offers its holidaymakers large shopping streets and many attractions. The holiday region North Sea is especially popular with cyclists. There are large areas which can be explored on a bicycle tour in the fresh air. In addition to the Wadden Sea and the tides, the North Sea also offers interesting destinations for excursions. The coastal cities of Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven and Emden are a worthwhile destination for day trips. Along the North Sea coast between the Ems and the Jadebusen there are small towns and villages with historic town houses in brick architecture in the hinterland. In the north, south and west there are moor areas. The North Sea holiday region is a fabulous recreational area for nature and landscape lovers and families with children.
